Te Reo Pick A Path

In Room 1 we have been learning about

We created a quiz using google slides in Te Reo Maori.

It was easy to choose the pictures and add them to the slide.

It was challenging to link the buttons from slide to slide.

Next time I will know how to do it and I won't make as many mistakes.

About Me

We were learning about sharing online profiles. The hardest thing for me was taking a photo.

Term 4

Term 4 has been a cool but busy term. Our Inquiry topic was culture city. Each week we choose a culture and write about it.The four paragraphs we had to write about were drama, visual arts, dance and music. They were hard to finish.

This term we also had athletics day. I had 100m sprint, 200m sprint, long jump, high jump and ball throw. I didn't do good in any of them. This term all the year sixes visited there intermediate school next year. I'm going to Ilminster. All the people that signed up for road patrol got to go to the Olympic pools for a road patrol reward day. I was swimming all day.

This term we also had the kapa haka festival. We did really good and I felt proud of myself. We also learnt a new Maori game. The game is called Ki O Rahi. It is a fun game and we pay rippa version. Overall this term has been my favourite term.

Kapa Haka 2019

I was nervous as i walked on to the stage. There were heaps of people staring at us. Hunter starting singing Tu Mai Ra and we all walked forward. Then everyone joins in.It sounded beautiful and all the practices payed off. After Tu Mai Ra we sung more songs and they were all awesome the girls did the poi an Purea Nei.

The boys started to walk forward as we sung a haka.We finally got to the front and we were ready for the haka. Hunter and Bjorn chanted the start and then we all sung. Our haka went a bit to fast but it still sounded great. We finished with the boys and girls singing 2 songs.

I was proud of myself and all of our practises payed off. We sounded awesome.

Marae Noho 2019

On Thursday 12th of September I went to Te Poho O Rawiri Marae. We lined up outside the Marae and we got welcomed into the wharenui. In the wharenui there were some cool designs called tukutuku panels and kowhaiwhai. We had a big Powhiri. They told us some history about the Marae.

My mum picked me and my cousins up to go to a funeral.
I came back around 2 pm and we were doing rotations I was doing skipping and handball and than flax weaving. We had free time until like 4:30.We set up our beds and then we had vegetarian nachos for dinner. We had ice blocks for desert and then we had a performance night. Nui had to do there kapa haka and my favourite was the haka. We went to bed but I couldn't fall asleep because it was uncomfortable.

I woke up at like 6:30 and we had to run on the concrete. We did rotations had hotdogs for lunch and we left at 2:00pm.I liked the Marae but i wanted to come back for the weekend.

Duolingo

We have a new word work that we can do for our priorities. It is called Duolingo and it is a website where you can learn almost every language.I chose French. You have to do it 10 minutes a day. I  know how to say je suis un garcon. That means I am a boy. Cat is chat and horse is cheval. Man is homme, boy is garcon, girl is fille and woman is femme. I like duolingo because it is fun. I like to get a lot of points.

Cross Country 2019

This morning we had cross country and everyone had been training hard for it. The race was down at the beach along the dunes. We are a lucky school because our school is across the road from the beach. I was in the second race for year 6 boys. I was very nervous for the race. We all lined up on the start line. Year 6 boys have to do 2 big laps of the course.

Take your marks, Bang! I sprinted at the start.I was around like 6th and then I drifted back to 8th. I finished one lap and I still had 1 more to go.I was still in 8th. Taj was in front of me and Tarn was behind me.It was the last bit. I went hard.

I finished the race and I came 8th I was proud of myself. I gave it my best shot and I felt sick. We all had a rest sitting down after the race. Ziggy came 1st and Toby came 2nd. We all did our house chant.I am in Kakahi and this is my house chant. Roll out the carpets, roll out the mats. Com on yellow's, knock 'em flat.Hear us shout,Hear us roar. Were the house you can't ignore.

Kakahi !
